With One Voice celebrates artists who have experienced homelessness and the organisations who work with them.

Turning stigma into celebration

The first ‘With One Voice’ was an event curated by Streetwise Opera at the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad at the Royal Opera House – it celebrated the artistic achievements of approximately 300 performers who had experienced homelessness and more than 30 organisations who work in the arts and homelessness sector.

Following the event, Streetwise Opera was asked by British Council Brazil and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation UK to research the feasibility and need for an arts and homelessness project in Rio, the 2016 Olympics host city.

In 2015, the project brought together arts and homelessness projects from both Brazil and the UK in preparation for Rio 2016. Meanwhile, we are also working with British Council Japan to plan for Tokyo 2020.

This project was the foundation for the new With One Voice – a global arts and homelessness movement connecting projects and people. A new website has been created with all the most up to date information and ways to connect with arts and homelessness projects around the world.
