Booth Centre & Royal Exchange Drama Group (Manchester)
About the group: The Booth Centre and the Royal Exchange Theatre have been working together intermittently since 2008, and recently started a 3 year partnership programme, funded by the John Paul Getty Jnr Charitable Trust and the Rayne Foundation. The drama group meet every Friday, and has performed in the Studio and the Module at the Royal Exchange Theatre, as well as at Manchester Art Gallery.

Cardboard Citizens, ACT NOW Company (London)
About the group: When emotion is too strong for speech, we sing. When emotion is too strong for song, we dance. Join us for the remix of this original ensemble show devised by the ACT NOW Company – Cardboard Citizens youth theatre group for 16-25yr olds with experience of homelessness – featuring live music by acclaimed musician Arun Ghosh. A presentation of lessons in life, all told through music and song.

About the group:  GISDA is a homelessness charity working with young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who are at risk of being homeless or are homeless . We offer vulnerable people in our society the opportunity to improve their quality of life so they aren’t disadvantaged because of poverty.

Givin’ it Laldie, Lodging House Mission and Scottish Opera
About the group:  The cast are singers from the Lodging House Mission, most of whom are members of the LHM Choir and have performed extensively around Glasgow. They have worked with Scottish Opera on the Voices of Glasgow project since January 2012 to write and create this original opera, which was performed in April,  with more than one performer commenting on how the experience has changed their life!

About the group: Bryan and Don play together in various groups having met at Crisis Skylight.
Merger (Bristol)
Performers: Tyrell, Middleman, V.go and Runcie
About the group: This group of four rappers is supported by 1625 Independent People, an organisation that provides housing, support and advice to young people in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Tyrell Jarrett, a support worker at 1625 Independent People, and also formerly homeless had the idea to bring young people together to work on a music project. They’ve collaborated and recorded an album called No Place Like Home.

Streetwise Opera (UK-wide)
About the group: Streetwise Opera is an award-winning charity that uses music as a tool to help 500 homeless people per year move IMG_5461forward in their lives. We do this through a weekly music programme in 11 homeless centres across England and by staging critically-acclaimed opera productions starring our homeless performers.
